5 Tools to Help the Stressed Tax Professional

It’s that time of year again. Corporate tax departments are abuzz. Tax season is in full swing, and tax professionals are scurrying to get everything done while working long hours. Excel spreadsheets are being re-worked. Work papers and documentation are gone over with a fine tooth comb. Entire forests are being destroyed, as reams of paper capture tax return after tax return. There aren’t enough hours in the day to get all of the work done. Stress is at an all-time high.

The bad news is I can’t make all of that work disappear. The good news is I have come across a few applications/tools that may be able to help you work more efficiently, or at a minimum, help reduce some of that stress.

1. Evernote – This is one place to keep track of anything and everything you want to remember to look at later…..web pages, notes, documents, etc. And, you can access it anywhere.

2. Trello – this collaboration tool may not be permitted by your IT department for work use, but it could seriously help you organize your personal life or your family.

3. AskSunday – Think of this as an extra set of hands. When you have run out of options for menial tasks at work or just need someone to help you get some things done in your personal life, this might be something for you.

4. CamScanner Free – This is only for those of you that use iPhones, but it will turn your phone into a portable scanner for documents, receipts, whiteboards or notes.

5. Google Voice – you are crazy running all over the place this time of year, but you don’t want to miss any of your calls or voicemails. This is what you need!
