Corporate Tax Pros: It’s That Time of Year Again
That’s right. Summer is almost here, and conference season is upon us. Next week, tax pros will descend upon everyone’s favorite vacation destination, Orlando, Florida. It will be a mixture of both business and pleasure as the Association for Computers and Taxation (ACT) kicks off their annual conference at Disney’s Contemporary resort from Wednesday, May 23rd- Friday, May 25th. My colleague, Kelley Lear, and I will be in attendance for three days packed with educational sessions, including such topics as A True Automated Tax Department, Transfer Pricing – What’s the Big Deal and Vision for a Global Tax Reporting Solution and Beyond, a vendor expo and lots of opportunities for networking.

Number crunchers, computer programmers, gamers and the like have all no doubt succumbed to being called a “nerd” or a “geek” at one time or another in their lives. Corporate tax professionals are certainly no strangers to feeling like outsiders at times themselves. Have you ever been to a social event outside of your immediate corporate tax circle and had someone ask you what you do for a living? They then follow up by asking you if you like what you do.
