When I Say “Tax”, You Say….

We think tax professionals rock! So much so, in fact, that we wrote a post about you guys last year. Then we decided we wanted to take it a step further.
We wondered what does the word “tax” mean to the tax professionals who live and breathe this stuff every day? My colleague, Kelley Lear, and I went on a quest to find out.
At conferences and meetings around the country, we asked those of you in tax, “When I say “tax”, you say…?”, and we got some pretty great responses. One may even surprise you.
Below is a video compilation with responses from some of your peers out there in the industry. We hope you enjoy it.
So, what did you think? You were surprised when you heard baby food, right? That gentleman had a good explanation. When we inquired as to why tax made him think of baby food, he explained that this was what his company did…make baby food. We felt much better.

When you say “tax”, I say “yes please!” Yeah yeah yeah, there’s government waste and faulty policies…. but honestly, I could care less about that. We live in an incredible country and I think of my tax dollars as rent that covers many amenities and freedoms. Living in the DC area, I love to talk politics until I’m blue in the face. Bottom line, we’re pretty darn lucky to be here.
Derek – What a great addition to our responses! We do live in an amazing country full of a diverse group of people. It certainly keeps things interesting. Thanks for sharing your comments.
